
Recently a video of a large number of people marching through the road holding banners and chanting slogans went viral on social media. Sharing the video, users are claiming that the video shows the protest against the Waqf Amendment Bill in India.

However, as we investigated, we came to know that the claim was false. The video is not from India. Here’s the fact check.
Fact Check
After watching the video carefully, we noticed that the people at the rally were holding a large banner written in Bangla.
Moreover, we could spot people carrying the flag of Bangladesh.
This indicates that the video could be from Bangladesh.
We took some screenshots from the viral video and conducted a reverse image search. This led us to a video report uploaded on the YouTube channel “Channel 24” on 28 November 2024. The video report contained the viral video and according to the report, the video shows a rally in Chittagong. The caption of the video was written in Bangla which translates to “Chhatra Shibir protests and gatherings in Chittagong on the occasion of National Student Solidarity Week”.
Taking the clue, we conducted a relevant keyword search in Bangla.
We found a longer version of the viral video on a Facebook page uploaded on 27 November 2024. The caption mentioned the video as Chittagong Chatro Shibir Rally in November demanding justice for the July massacre.
We found another video featuring the viral video from a different angle. The video was uploaded on YouTube on 27 November 2024. According to the caption, the video shows a rally in Chittagong, Bangladesh.

This makes it clear that the viral video is old and from Bangladesh.
Conclusion
From our investigation, we can say that the claim is false. The viral video doesn’t show a protest against the Waqf Amendment Bill in India. The video is old and shows a rally in Chittagong, Bangladesh.
