The result of the 2024 general election was declared on 4th June and Narendra Modi-led NDA won 293 seats, while the opposition INDI Alliance won 232 seats.

Amidst this, a photograph of Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav and Telugu Desham Party (TDP) chief Chandrababu Naidu sitting together is going viral with the claim that the two met after the declaration of the 2024 election results.

However, as we investigated, we came to know that the photograph is old and has no link with the 2024 general election. Here's the fact check.

Fact Check

We started our investigation by conducting a reverse image search of the viral image. As a result, we found the viral image in a report by NDTV that was published on 18 May 2019. The report reads, "Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday met Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and his alliance partner Mayawati in Lucknow, hours after he discussed firming up a non-BJP front with Congress President Rahul Gandhi in the national capital. He also met Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar..."

On further search, we came across a tweet from Akhilesh Yadav's X handle which has the same image. The tweet was made on 18 May 2019. The caption of the tweet reads, "It is a pleasure to welcome Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri N Chandrababu Naidu Ji to Lucknow".

It is worth mentioning that Chandrababu Naidu met Akhilesh Yadav in 2019 to push for a coalition government. He had held several rounds of discussions with various opposition leaders. TDP had been a part of the then NDA and had quit the alliance.

Conclusion

From our investigation, we can say that the viral image is old and shared with missing context. The image is from 2019 and has no link with the 2024 general elections.
