Did a dalit Hindu lady from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh beheaded six Muslims after they threatened her to convert the religion?
An old message of a dalit woman beheading six muslim men has resurfaced again on social media. The claim states that after being threatened for rape and forceful religion conversion by six Muslim men, a Hindu dalit woman from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, beheaded those men.
However, Fact Crescendo found the claim to be false. This is an old message that resurfaced on social media. No such incident took place in Varanasi.
What’s the claim?
The claim reads, “After being threated for rape and religious conversion, a dalit woman beheaded six Muslims in Varanasi’s Babatpur region. The head of those six men were found near a Kali temple”
Fact Check-
A relevant keyword search led us to a tweet from DCP of Gomti zone of Varanasi. The tweet clearly states that the viral claim is false and no such incident took place. The tweet reads, “Important information! Fake news is circulating on social media which is completely false. Varanasi Gomti Zone police are refuting the claim.”
In this tweet, we saw a newspaper clip of UP Tak news carrying the same viral information. UP Tak clarified in a tweet that the viral screenshot is completely false and misleading. In a tweet on 19 June 2023, it was written, "The information viral on social media with UP Tak’s name and logo is fictitious, misleading and fake. Don’t pay attention to such misleading news. Police will take legal actions on those who shared such posts.”
Conclusion:
Fact Crescendo found the claim to be false. No such incident of a dalit woman beheading Muslims in Varanasi took place. This is an old false message that was viral previously as well.
