The image shows a bulletproof bus provided by Midhani group to the CRPF in 2017.


An image featuring two photos, showing a picture of Indian industrialist and former chairperson of the Tata group Ratan Tata and the other of an armored bus is going viral on social media platforms with a claim that Ratan Tata provided the Indian army with bullet and bombproof buses.


The caption states, “#RatanTata made the #IndianArmy bullet proof And provided bomb proof buses”.

Fact Check-

By performing the reverse image search on Google we found that the same image was shared by the Twitter handle of the Central Armed Police Force (CRPF) in September 2017 with the caption ‘Armored Bus and Bhabha Kavach, lightweight BP jacket manufactured under #makeinindia by Midhani handed over to DG CRPF today.

In further search, we found the same image was shared on 9September, 2017 by a Facebook page named Indian Defense Research Advancements also.

Twitter handle of Aerodynamics also shared a similar image with the caption ‘Hyderabad-based MIDHANI will be showcasing its Light Bullet Proof Vehicles (LBPVs) and Medium Bullet Proof Vehicles (MBPVs) for troop movement in counter-insurgency operations at DefExpo2020. LBPV Bus protects against 7.62 x 39m MSC and the complete bus.’

The same was also reported by The New Indian Express on 3, March 2017 that CRPF will get bullet-proof buses for troops. NDTV also reported on this announcement.


Conclusion-

Fact Crescendo found the claim made along with the viral images to be False. The image shows a bulletproof bus provided by MIDHANI (Mishra Dhatu Nigam Limited) to the CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) in 2017 September.
