Recently, communal violence broke out in the Nuh district of Haryana where a procession organized by VHP and Bajrang Dal was attacked by another community people. It was also reported that the people who participated in the procession were carrying weapons.
In the backdrop of this, a video of a Muslim man being chased and beaten by a mob is going viral on social media. It was claimed that this video is from Haryana. Social media users are criticizing the BJP government for this kind of situation.
However, Fact Crescendo found the claim to be false. This is an incident from Dehradun, Uttarakhand and not Haryana.

Fact Check-
A Google Reverse Image Search on a keyframe of the viral video led us to the same video uploaded on Nazar India News’ YouTube Channel. It was mentioned that this incident took place at Indiresh Hospital.
After this, we searched for Indiresh Hospital with the help of Google Maps. We came to know that this hospital is located in Patel Nagar, Dehradun in Uttarakhand.
We found some images of Mahant Indiresh Hospital on Google Maps that resembled the location of the incident of the viral video. We found that the close by buildings in the viral video and Google Maps image are the same. We also saw similarities between the ramp to the entrance of the hospital. Below you can see the comparison between the both.
Taking a clue from the above, we contacted Dehradun’s Patel Nagar Police station and spoke to the SHO. He informed us,“The viral video is from Dehradun’s Mahant Indiresh Hospital. There was a fight that took place between people of two communities. FIR has been registered and police had arrested few people involved in this clash. Uttarakhand police had released a press statement in its Twitter Handle and we can get the details from there.”
According to Dehradun Police, this incident took place on 27 July 2023 where a fight arose against a man named Amit Bhandari. A case was registered under Patel Nagar Police station. Police had arrested few people and a few of them are absconding. Police are currently searching for them.
The day Amit was being treated in the Indiresh Hospital, a few people initiated a fight with others and people are trying to make that incident viral on social media with a communal angle. Police had already taken action against a few who had shared this video on social media with the intention to create disharmony among communities.
Conclusion:
Fact Crescendo found the claim to be false. The viral incident is not from Haryana but from Dehradun, Uttarakhand, and is not related to ongoing unrest in Haryana. Police have already started taking action against those who are trying to spread communal disturbances through this video.
