On 19 July 2023, a video surfaced on social media showing two Kuki women stripped naked and groped by a violent mob. This video angered social media users questioning the law and order and safety of women in India. Amidst the reports of ongoing violence in Manipur, gruesome videos of torture are circulating on social media. Amidst this, a video showing a woman being hacked to death with an axe in the hands of man is widely circulating on the internet as an incident from Manipur. Users claim that this video shows the murder of a Christian woman in Manipur who was brutally killed by RSS mob.
The caption of the viral video states, “Pray for Manipur Christians: Killing Christian woman in Manipur: Video of Christian woman brutally murdered by RSS mob.”
The same video is widely circulating on Twitter as well.

Fact Check-
We started our investigation by running a reverse image search on one of the keyframes of the video and a relevant keyword search on Google. The results led us to the same video published by a Twitter user mentioning that this video is from Brazil where a 23-year-old woman named Thália Torres de Souza from Brazil, was kidnapped and brutally murdered.

Keeping this in mind, we ran another keyword search in Portuguese on Google, whose results led us to a Facebook post published by Caucaia Newspaper on 30 August 2020. According to the details, a young woman was killed with cruelty refinements in the Granja Portugal neighborhood, in Fortaleza. According to preliminary information, the victim, identified as Thalia Torres de Souza, 23, was found dead near the Maranguapinho River, with a head injury, probably caused by an axe.
We noticed that the victim is wearing a T-shirt that contains the logo of Fortaleza Esporte Clube which is a football club in Brazil. Below you can see the similarity between the logos.
We found a news report published on a Brazilian website Cn7 published on September 2020. It states that the crime involved a 23-year-old girl, identified as Thália Torres de Souza, who was kidnapped by members of a criminal faction in the Bom Jardim neighborhood and taken to the neighboring neighborhood, Granja Portugal. The victim was wearing blue jeans and a shirt from her favorite team, Fortaleza Esporte Clube. When this report was published the murderers were not arrested.
Conclusion-
Fact Crescendo found the claim made along with the video to be False. The viral video does not show a Christian woman in Manipur hacked to death by a RSS mob. Instead the video shows an incident from 2020 in Brazil where a woman was hacked to death by her kidnappers.
