Fact Check-

A simple reverse image search on Google led us to a report by Economic times published on 2013 August. As per reports “Sindhurakshak, an INS submarine, exploded and sank on August 14, 2013, in Mumbai. The article further informs that it had returned to India from Russia after a ‘$80-million upgrade’.

According to a NDTV report from September 2014, “Explosions on board INS Sindhurakshak in August 2013 - which caused the death of 18 sailors and the vessel to sink in Mumbai harbour - happened because critical Standard Operating Procedures, or SoPs , were violated, an internal inquiry into the incident has revealed”.

In further search we found a Reuters article which was shared on 14 August 2013 and was about the Indian submarine's accident. The report carried 11 images of the submarines and the viral image was also one of them. The caption along with that image, said, "The Indian Navy's Sindhurakshak submarine is docked in Visakhapatnam in this February 13, 2006 file photo."

Furthermore the image is nowhere linked with the devasting Odisha train accident which happened on 2 June, 2023.The INS Sindhurakshak blast occurred in 2013, and the Prime Minister at the time was Manmohan Singh, not Narendra Modi.

Fact Crescendo found the claim made along with the viral image to be False.
