A tragic incident of a plane crash took place in Nepal, killing 68 passengers. Social media platforms got flooded with videos and images of plane crash after the incident.

One such video is going viral on social media in which a plane caught huge fire while on the runway of an airport. Passengers can also be seen rushing out of emergency doors. It is being claimed that this is the incident of recent plane crash in Nepal.

Fact Check-

We first divided the viral video into various keyframes. A Google Reverse Image Search on keyframes led us to the same video uploaded in The Moscow Times YouTube channel two years ago. According to the report, this incident took place in 2019 at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport. After taking off the Aeroflot flight was struck by a lightning and had to do emergency landing. The plane caught fire while landing. Around 41 people were killed and 9 were injured. After investigation it was found that the incident occurred due to lack of safety measures.

According to CNN, Aeroflot flight SU 1492 skidded on the runway while landing at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport. The rear section of the plane caught huge fire. After plane came to halt, passengers escaped using emergency slides.

A Russian news agency stated that the flight lost the communication caused by lightning. After this pilots decided to return to Sheremetyevo Airport from where the plane took off. Around 41 people lost their lives in this incident.

A keyword search on YouTube led us to an animated video uploaded on The Flight Channel official account, describing how the whole incident took place. Below you can see the video.

Conclusion:

Fact Crescendo found that the viral video of plane crashing is from Russia in 2019. This is not a video of recent plane crash from Nepal.
