False Social

Currently, an image of a 3D model is going viral on social media. Users are claiming that this is the 3D model of the first human on earth Adam.

However, Fact Crescendo found this claim to be false. This is a 3D model of actor Vin Diesel, not the first human on earth.

What’s The Claim:

Fact Check:

We found that this image was first shared on a Twitter handle ‘Alamo Drafthouse NYC’ on 27 October 2022. It was written “Scientists at Princeton University have reconstructed this 3D model of how Adam, the first human being created by God, might have looked

In the same tweet thread on 28 October, the same user clarified that they are a movie theater and not an academic journal.

Apart from this, we found a report by New York Post on 28 October 2022. According to the report, after the tweet by Alamo Drafthouse NYC, social media users mistook the model of actor Van Diesel as the model of the first human reconstructed by Princeton University.

We found the same image of the model on a website. This image was uploaded 6 years back by a 3D character artist Vitaly Tenishev

You can see other similar 3D models by the same artist here

We also went through Princeton University’s website but found no information provided there on any research work taking place regarding the reconstruction of the first human Adam.

Conclusion:

A 3D model of actor Van Diesel was mistaken as the model of the first human on earth, reconstructed by Princeton University. There is no mention of any such reconstruction work being done by the university.
