An image of cash on the floor is going viral with a claim that a cancer patient threw money outside the hospital when they denied him the treatment.

However, Fact Crescendo found the claim to be false. The image is not from China where a begrudged boyfriend had thrown money at his ex-girlfriend.

WHAT IS THE CLAIM?

The viral post claims that when a cancer patient in Nigeria arrived at the hospital for treatment, she was denied as her cancer was in the last stage. After that, she threw open her bag full of money as she felt the money was of no use to her.

FACT CHECK

In the right bottom corner, something is written in Chinese. With the help of Google lens, we learned that it means ‘Guoyang people.’ Guoyang is in China.

A Google Reverse image search on the viral image led us to a News website in which the same image was published on 8 July 2014.

According to the report, the incident happened at Harbin Medical University in China. A working nurse at the hospital broke up with her boyfriend and got into a new relationship with a rich boy.

The angered ex-boyfriend confronted her in the hospital and threw a bag full of money at her. Hospital staff had to intervene to calm the scenario.

Fact Crescendo found the viral claim to be false. The image is not from Nigeria but from China. The incident of a quarrel between a couple in Habrin Medical University of China circulated with the false claim that a cancer patient from Nigeria threw money after she was denied treatment due to the last stage of cancer.
