Update: 2024-09-05 14:19 GMT

A video of the distribution of flood relief in Bangladesh is going viral on social media. The video shows a Maulvi removing a thread from a child's neck who was there to get the flood relief material. The video is going viral with the claim that the child in the video is a Hindu and the Maulvi is cutting the sacred thread he is wearing.

Sharing the video on Facebook a user wrote, "This happened in Bangladesh where Muslims became majority & Hindus became minority

Since Bangladesh is suffering from Flood

These group of Muslims cut the sacred thread with a locket from the neck of a Hindu minor boy who was seeking flood relief rations for his family

They abused him for being a Hindu & put condition that he will have to remove the sacred thread & locket from his neck to get the flood relief

After removing it ,when the boy tried asking them to handover his locket & thread ,they rebuked him & threw it in water

That's how vile these Bangladeshi Muslims are

Now imagine ,we have crores of Bangladeshis Muslims & rohingyas living in India all thanks to Muslim appeasement of congress which runs it's "Mohabbat ki dukan" to fool hindus in India

We are just few years away from such happenings in India once they Bangladeshi Muslims attain majority, they will start doing this to Indian Hindus as well"

However, as we investigated, we came to know that the claim was false. The child in the video is not a Hindu. Here's the fact check.

Fact Check

There was text written in Bengali language on the viral video. The text read, "নোয়াখালী ত্রাণসামগ্রী বিতরণ সাথে ছেলেকে শিরক মুক্ত করা হলো", which means, "with the distribution of relief materials in Noakhali, the boy has been made Shirk free".

In Islam, Shirk refers to the sin of practising paganism or polytheism. In other words, Shirk is to worship someone other than Allah.

Shirk is mainly of three types.

1. Associating partners with the Being of Allah. For example, Believing that Allah has wives, sons, and daughters.

2. Associating in the worship of Allah.

3. Associating with the Attributes of Allah. For example, To think that Prophets, Messengers and Awliyas know the Unseen by themselves because only Allah has the knowledge of the Unseen.

Conducting keyword search, we found more such videos.

Moving forward, using relevant keywords, we found a tweet from Shohanur Rahman, a fact checker from Bangladesh. The tweet contained two screenshots from the viral video.

He wrote, "The boy is not Hindu, and it was not a Tulsi mala; rather it was a Taweez.

There is Bangla text on the video that reads: "With the relief distribution, this boy was made 'Shirik-free.'"

The video was uploaded on August 26, by Rasel Khan. It is from Noakhali, where a Salafi Islamic school named "Tawhid Academy and Islamic Center" from Chandpur distributed the relief. Salafi/Ahle Hadith followers are against Taweez, and there are many videos of Salafi members cutting Taweez.

In the video, the conversation goes like this:

Hujur: "May Allah reward you."

Boy: "Ma might scold..."

: "No, no, she will not scold. Tell her Hujur came and said it's not right to wear it..."

You cannot make a Hindu boy Shirik-free by cutting his Mala. Shirk means ascribing a partner or rival to Allah in Lordship, worship, or in His names and attributes. It is the biggest sin in Islam.

By wearing a Taweez, people might believe that the Taweez is the protector rather than Allah. That's why they call it Shirik and remove it from the boy's neck. So, only a Muslim boy can be made Shirik-free in this particular case by removing the Taweez according to Salafi views".
