However, upon investigation, we found that the claim was misleading. The viral video is old and unrelated to the Assam floods. Here’s the fact check.
Fact Check
We started our investigation by taking screenshots from the viral video and conducting a reverse image search. This led us to the official X handle of Uttarakhand Police, where the viral video was uploaded on July 26, 2024.

The translation of the tweet read, “Kangra Ghat, Haridwar: A Shiva devotee who was swept away in the swift waves of the Ganga has been safely rescued by #UttarakhandPolice SDRF personnel after strenuous efforts.”
The same video was uploaded on the YouTube channel of the Uttarakhand Police on July 27, 2024
This makes it clear that the viral video is old and unrelated to the Assam floods.
Conclusion
From our investigation, we can say that the claim is misleading. The viral video of a person being rescued from drowning is not related to the Assam floods. This is an old incident from Uttarakhand.
