However, upon investigation, we found that the claim was misleading. The viral photo is unrelated to the Assam Floods. Here’s the fact check.
Fact Check
We started our investigation by conducting a reverse image search. This led us to a report published in a Bangladeshi media that contained the viral photo. According to the report, the photo shows a flood situation in Bangladesh.
Moving forward, we found a video similar to the scene in the viral photo, uploaded on a Facebook page on August 25, 2024.
This makes it clear that the viral photo is old.
We found the same video uploaded on a YouTube channel on August 28, 2024.
Although we could verify the exact location and time of the video, it’s clear that the video is not related to the current flood situation in Assam.
Conclusion
From our investigation, we can say that the claim is misleading. The viral photo is unrelated to the current flood situation in Assam. The photo has been available on the internet since at least August 2024.
