Unrelated video goes viral as JNU professors force students to join the CJP protests.

The Cockroach Janta Party’s (CJP) ‘Sansad Chalo’ Parliament march on 20 July, 2026, resulted in intense riots, tear gas shelling, and lathi charges in central Delhi. The demonstration was to protest widespread irregularities and paper leaks in the 2026 NEET-UG and CBSE examinations. Their central demand was the immediate resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Against this backdrop, a video is going viral on social media claiming that professors at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) are forcing students out of classrooms to participate in the recent CJP protests.

One of the students in the video says, “You are forced in the middle of the class to come out and join the protests.” The text in the video said, “JNU students receive threats from leftist professors to join CJP protest.”

Let’s check the truth.

Fact check:

We started our investigation with a reverse image search on Google, and the results led us to an interview published by the Lallantop on 25 February 2026. It features the people seen in the viral video among other students.  The students in the video were actually discussing an on-campus clash that occurred on 23 February between the ABVP and left-wing student organisations. The students expressed their concern over classroom interruptions, and they also talked about regular protests and violence damaging JNU’s reputation.

This indicates that the viral video is old and not related to the current CJP protests.

As per the Hindu report from February, the JNU campus remained tense following the VC’s remark that Dalits cannot progress using a victim card. There were also protests over the suspension of JNUSU office-bearers and the former president, who had protested against surveillance in the central library.

When we checked for the latest updates, we found that rather than encouraging the CJP demonstrations, administrations at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Delhi University (DU), and Jamia Millia Islamia issued strictly worded circulars warning students to stay away from the CJP protest site at Jantar Mantar. JNU’s official advisory explicitly warned that participating in these public gatherings could lead to disciplinary action under the university’s code of conduct or legal consequences.

Conclusion

Fact Crescendo found the claim made along with the video to be Misleading. This is an old video from February 2026, and it is unrelated to the ongoing CJP protest.
