However, upon investigation, we found that the claim was misleading. The viral video predates CJP’s protest in Jantar Mantar. Here’s the fact check.

Fact Check 

We started our investigation by taking screenshots from the viral video and conducting a reverse image search. This led us to a Facebook page where the viral video was uploaded on May 10, 2026.

The caption of the post read, “A police officer in Bihar has sparked massive outrage after visuals from a protest allegedly showed the Indian national flag being used to wipe sweat and later being mishandled during the demonstration linked to job demands.

The incident drew strong criticism online, with many calling it disrespectful to the Tiranga and questioning the conduct and discipline expected from uniformed personnel. We found another Facebook post containing the viral video on May 9, 2026.

According to the caption, the viral video was from the BPSC TRE 4 Protests in Patna, Bihar.

According to reports, “Thousands of aspirants demanding the release of advertisement for the fourth phase of teachers’ recruitment exam (TRE-4) by the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) on May 8, 2026, Friday took to the streets in Patna, leading to a blockade, and the police had to resort to lathicharge to contain the situation and clear the road”.
