Video from Poland falsely shared as massive crowd celebrating Cristiano Ronaldo

Against this backdrop, a video of a massive crowd gathered in a public place for celebration is going viral on social media, with the claim that it shows fans of Cristiano Ronaldo gathered to show support for him.

Fact check:

We started our investigation with a reverse image search on Google, and the results led us to a similar video uploaded on the Facebook page of  A News on 1 June 2026. 

The caption states, “Tens of thousands of Wisla Krakow fans filled Kraków’s historic Old Town square to celebrate their club’s promotion to the top flight.”

This indicates that the viral video is old and not related to the FIFA World Cup or Ronaldo.

As per reports, Tens of thousands of Wisła Kraków fans packed Kraków’s Main Market Square in Poland to celebrate their club’s return to the Ekstraklasa (the top-tier football league) after four long years. The crowd, estimated between 50,000 and 60,000, filled the historic city center with red smoke, flags, and loud chants.

A Reuters report also confirmed that thousands of Wisla Krakow fans had gathered at the Old Town’s Main Square on May 24 to mark the club’s promotion to the Ekstraklasa, the top-tier Polish football league.

Moreover, Google Street View imagery from Kraków’s Main Square shows the same statue, basilica, and church as in the videos, confirming the location. 

However, based on the evidence, the viral video actually depicts fans of the Wisła Kraków football club celebrating their team’s promotion in Krakow, Poland.

Fact Crescendo found the claim made along with the video to be misleading. This video is from Poland, and it shows thousands of fans of the Wisla Krakow football club celebrating the club’s promotion.
