However, as we investigated, we came to know that the claim was false. The viral video is unrelated to the Ahmedabad Plane Crash. Here’s the fact check.
Fact Check
We noticed a text overlay on the viral video which reads, “instagram nofret_egypt_”.
Taking this clue, we searched for the Instagram handle mentioned in the text overlay. This led us to the particular Instagram handle. According to the description, the user’s name is Tom, an artist. Going through the Instagram handle we learned that it’s a dedicated profile for showing ancient Egypt.
We found the viral video on this Instagram handle uploaded on 11 March 2025. The caption of the post reads, “Mummy of a child from Ancient Egypt – Roman Period
Laid to rest with the utmost care and love.
On the small coffin: Demons of all sorts to ward off evil forces.
Basel, Swizzerland, Antikenmuseum”
The same video was uploaded on the Instagram handle on 13 June 2024 with a caption, “‼️Mummy of a young child‼️
Your parents from Roman times in Egypt did all they could for you that your soul should find a home and is protected from evil spirits.
May you rest in peace and continue to be cheerful in Field of Reeds.
antikenmuseumbasel Switzerland”
The post mentioned Antikenmuseum Basel Switzerland.
Using a relevant keyword search, we found that the Antikenmuseum Basel holds the largest collection of ancient cultural artefacts in Switzerland, spanning over 5,000 years of culture and representing all the early civilizations of the Mediterranean region, from Greece to Rome and Etruria and from Egypt, via the Levant, to Mesopotamia and Iraq.
Moreover, we noticed that some special symbols were inscribed on the cot.
Using a reverse image search and a relevant keyword search, we found that the Coffin Texts are a collection of ancient Egyptian funerary spells written on coffins beginning in the First Intermediate Period. Some demons are described in the Coffin Texts, which are ancient Egyptian funerary texts inscribed on coffins. These demons can be depicted in various forms, including animalistic or hybrid forms, and they play roles in the deceased’s journey through the underworld.
This makes it clear that the viral video shows an Egyptian Mummy.
Conclusion
From our investigation, we can say that the claim is false. The viral video doesn’t show the burnt body of a child of the Joshi family who died in the Ahmedabad Plane Crash. The video shows the Mummy of a child from ancient Egypt.
