
Recently an image of an SUV car went viral on social media claiming it to be a new “Sumo 7-Seater” by TATA Motors. Sharing the image a Facebook page wrote, “TATA Motors Finally Unveil Next-Gen Sumo 7-Seater”

However, as we investigated, we came to know that the image had been altered. The SUV shown in the image is a “Rox 01” made by Chinese automaker Rox Motors. Here’s the Fact Check.
Fact Check
We started our investigation by conducting a reverse image search. This led us to an Instagram post that contained a few images of a car similar to the car in the viral image. According to the caption, the vehicle is ROX 01. The caption read, “ROX 01 is available now! Experience the luxurious 7-seater plug-in hybrid designed by Polestones. Powered by 1.5L Turbo Engine along with Dual Electric Motors All Wheel Drive summoning over 500 Horsepower and 1,115km of Range.”
Taking this clue, using relevant keywords we found the website of Rox Motors that featured the viral vehicle on the website.
Rox Motors is a Chinese automobile manufacturer. Rox Motors was founded in 2021. Going through the website, we got to know that the vehicle shown in the image is ROX 01. The Rox 01 (Chinese: 极石01), also known as the Polestones 01, is a range extender mid-size SUV. ROX 01 was officially launched in August 2023 and deliveries started in November 2023.

This makes it clear that the vehicle shown in the viral image is ROX 01, manufactured by a Chinese automobile company Rox Motors.
Conclusion
From our investigation, we can say that the image has been altered. The vehicle shown in the viral image is not the Sumo 7-Seater by TATA Motors. The vehicle is ROX 01, manufactured by the Chinese automobile manufacturer Rox Motors. The TATA logo has been edited on the ROX 01.
