However, upon investigation, we discovered that the claim was misleading. The viral video is old and not from Indonesia. Here’s the fact check.
Fact Check
We started our investigation by taking screenshots from the viral video and conducting a reverse image search. This led us to a report published in the Hindustan Times on October 10, 2025, that contained a photo similar to the screenshots from the viral video.

The report read, “A powerful earthquake measuring 7.5 on the Richter scale shook the southern Philippines on Friday, sending thousands fleeing into the streets and triggering widespread panic across Mindanao. Dramatic videos shared on social media showed terrified residents rushing out of buildings and scrambling for safety as the tremors rattled the region.”
Moving forward, we found the viral video on the Facebook page of TRT World on October 10, 2025. According to the post, the video shows a 7.4 magnitude earthquake in the Philippines on October 10, 2025.
Other reports can be seen here and here.
This makes it clear that the viral video is old and not from Indonesia.
Conclusion
From our investigation, we can say that the claim is misleading. The viral video doesn’t show a recent earthquake in Indonesia. It shows an earthquake in the Philippines in October 2025.
