Old video of brawl at Jerusalem’s Cinema theater falsely shared as recent clash at Israel’s Ben Gurion Airport

False International

Amid current tensions in the Middle East, a video going viral on social media shows many people confronting a group of men standing behind a counter. Individuals can also be seen throwing objects in the footage. It is being claimed that this footage is from Israel’s Ben Gurion Airport, where panicked travellers are demanding to leave the country, fearing an Iranian missile attack.

The caption of the post states, “There are conflicts now at Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv”.

Let’s check the truth.

Fact check:

Our investigation began with a reverse image search on Google, and the results led us to a similar video uploaded by Ynet’s X handle on 20 July, 2025. The caption states, “A mass brawl broke out tonight at Cinema City in Jerusalem between dozens of Jewish youths and Arab employees of the movie theater chain’s snack bar”.

This indicates that the viral video is old and not related to the ongoing conflict in the Middle east.

Using these hints, we conducted further searches and found several news reports regarding this incident. Israeli media organisation The Times of Israel reported on the fight on the day, saying dozens of youths attacked workers in “an anti-Arab riot” for refusing to reopen the refreshment kiosk after closing time.

Moving forward, we found a video report on the Times of India ‘s official YouTube channel on 20 July, 2025, detailing the incident. It was captioned, “Riots Erupt In Jerusalem As Israeli Jews Ransack Movie Theatre, Chant ‘DEATH TO ARABS.’

As the conflict continues, Israel closed its airspace for the day, and international airlines have declared that they will suspend flights to the region, including Israel. Some Israeli airlines have since restarted some flights under tight security measures. Flights were halted again after the Israeli military announced on March 18 that debris had hit Ben Gurion International Airport as a result of Iranian missile firing but did not identify when the incident occurred.

So, taking account of all this evidence, we can understand that this video does not show travellers demanding to leave Israel at Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion airport. It was from a cinema in Jerusalem and shows a group of people attacking staff for refusing to reopen a food kiosk after closing time.

Conclusion

Fact Crescendo found that the claim made along with the viral video to be False. This viral video is from July 2025 and shows a brawl between Jewish youths and Arab workers at a cinema theater in Jerusalem.
