Factcheck:
Our investigation began with a reverse image search of key frames from the viral video, which led us to similar video uploaded by Kashtan news on Instagram on 9 January 2026. It is a local independent digital media organisation from Kyiv, Ukraine. The description along with the video states, “We are publishing footage of a Russian drone hitting a residential building in Kyiv. This indicates that the viral video was available on the internet prior to the recent tensions in the Middle East, and it originates from Ukraine.
