Iran launched multiple waves of ballistic missile and drone attacks targeting Tel Aviv and central Israel. These strikes were part of a rapidly escalating conflict following joint U.S.-Israeli operations. 

Amidst this, a video claims to show Iran firing an underground missile is going viral on social media. The caption of the video states, “Iran has released a video of an underground missile firing”.

Factcheck:

Our investigation began with a reverse image search on Google and we found that the video was first published on 4 July, 2024, and shows drills and exercises conducted by Hezbollah’s artillery unit. As per reports, it shows the Iranian-backed Hezbollah armed group in southern Lebanon has demonstrated the meticulous preparations made by its members to confront the Israeli military in the event of a war.

Moving forward, we found News organisation Times Now had also uploaded this video in its report about Hezbollah’s arsenal, publishing it on 6 July 2024.

So, all this evidence indicates that the video is old and does not show missiles being launched from underground sites in Iran amid the ongoing escalation.

Conclusion

Fact crescendo found that the claim made along with the viral video to be Misleading. This is an old video showing the missile system of Hezbollah.
