Did Donald Trump Panic On Hearing Chants Of “Allahu Akbar”?

A video of US President Donald Trump went viral on social media. The video shows Donald Trump panicking when someone in the background chanted “Allahu Akbar” during his speech. The security personnel can be seen immediately protecting Trump.

However, upon investigation, we discovered that the video had been edited. The original video does not contain the “Allahu Akbar” chant. Here’s the fact check.

Fact Check 

We started our investigation by conducting a relevant keyword search. This led us to a longer version of the video uploaded on the YouTube channel CBS News on March 12, 2016.

The description of the video read, “Secret Service agents rushed to protect Donald Trump Saturday as a protester at his Vandalia, OH rally tried to climb on stage. Trump said he was “ready” to take him on but preferred to have security handle the disruption. Watch the video.”

The video doesn’t contain “Allahu Akbar”. 

A report published in the NBC News read, “A Donald Trump rally took a dramatic turn Saturday when a disturbance broke out behind him — causing Secret Service agents to jump on stage and form a wall around the candidate amid the commotion. A campaign spokeswoman said that a man at the Dayton, Ohio, event “attempted to breach the secure buffer and was removed rapidly and professionally.”

The suspect was identified as Thomas Dimassimo, 32, and was charged with disorderly conduct and inducing panic — both misdemeanors, Chief Mike Etter of the Dayton Airport Police Department told NBC News…”

The report didn’t mention any incident of chanting “Allahu Akbar”

Conclusion 

From our investigation, we can say that the viral video has been altered. The original video shows Donald Trump reacting after an attempted security breach in his rally. The original video doesn’t contain the “Allahu Akbar” chant.
