However, upon investigation, we discovered that the claim was misleading. The viral video is old and unrelated to the current situation. Here’s the fact check.

Fact Check 

We started our investigation by conducting a relevant keyword search. This led us to the official YouTube channel of Associated Press where the viral video was uploaded on May 9, 2018.

The description of the video read, “Iranian parliament members burned a paper US flag and a copy of the Iran nuclear agreement. They were reacting to President Donald Trump’s decision to pull the United States out of the agreement. (May 9)”

We found the same video uploaded on the YouTube channel of CNN on May 10, 2018.

It is worth mentioning that President Donald Trump withdrew the United States from the Iran Nuclear Deal on May 8, 2018, which was signed during President Barack Obama’s presidency in 2015. 

This makes it clear that the viral video is old.

Conclusion 

From our investigation, we can say that the claim is misleading. The viral video of the Iranian politicians burning the American flag is old. The Iranian politicians burnt the American flag after Donald Trump pulled the US out of the Iran Nuclear Deal in May 2018.
