Video of violence against transgender woman in Pakistan shared as Christian girl kidnapped over faith conversion

This video shows an attack on a transgender woman in Vehari, Pakistan.

A video going viral on social media claiming that Islamists have kidnapped a Christian girl in Pakistan who refused to convert to Islam. In the video, we can see a gang of people attacking and dragging a woman into a car, while a crowd gathers around. During the scuffle, one of the men shoots several shots into the air. The woman eventually breaks free and flees the vehicle.

The caption of the post states, “A 17-year-old Christian girl in Pakistan was kidnapped by radical Islamists after refusing to convert to Islam and marry a 46-year-old’s son”.

Fact Check

We started our investigation by running a Google reverse image search, whose result led us to several social media posts containing a similar video. It was uploaded in April 2025 and the description was written in Urdu. When translated, it was discovered to be a video of an attack on a transgender woman within the Vehari Daniwal police station’s jurisdiction. The assailants caused terror by pointing firearms at the woman before attacking her. According to the post, the accused took her phone, money, and costly jewellery before firing rounds into the air and fleeing.

Daniwal Police Station is in Vehari and Vehari is a city in the Punjab province of Pakistan. Facebook posts sharing the viral video with the same information can be found here and here.

Moving forward, we found that Pakistan news outlet, The Express Tribune has published a report regarding this incident. The report states “According to police officials, Rana Phool and Rana Moon, along with their friends, had tortured the transgender person in public at a road intersection, cut her hair and tried to kidnap her in a car on April 23. The victim was injured because of the violence and was shifted to a hospital”.

On 28 April, 2025, Vehari Police announced on its official social media page that three people had been arrested in this incident.

So, based on these evidences we can understand that the video does not show a minor Christian girl being kidnapped in Pakistan for refusing to convert to Islam.
