A video showing RSS workers dancing went viral on social media, claiming it was from the British Era. It has been claimed that the video is archival footage from the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC). Sharing the video, a user wrote, “Archival footage from British Broadcasting Corporation.
Date? Maybe 1942? Or maybe later.
Some people sing some weird song & dance on it when other Indians were singing Vande Mataram and Inquilab Zindabaad.”

However, as we investigated, we came to know that the claim was misleading. The viral video is not from the British Era. Here’s the fact check.
Fact Check
We started our investigation by conducting a relevant keyword search. This led us to a video report on the official YouTube channel of Aaj Tak on 17 December, 2015. We found the coloured version of the viral video in this report.

According to the report, the video was of a Sangh Shiksha Varg training camp of RSS in Nagpur. Maharashtra’s Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis along with other BJP leaders was present at the event.
A comparison between the screenshots from the viral video and the Aaj Tak video can be seen below.

Another similar report can be seen here.
This makes it clear that the video does not belong to the BBC archive.
Conclusion
From our investigation, we can say that the claim is misleading. The viral video is not the BBC’s archival video from the British era in India. The video was of a Sangh Shiksha Varg training camp of RSS in Nagpur in 2015.
