However, as we investigated, we came to know that the claim was misleading. The viral video is old and unrelated to the current flight cancellations scenario. Here’s the fact check.

Fact Check

We started our investigation by conducting a relevant keyword search. This led us to a report published in NDTV on September 30, 2025, that contained images similar to the screenshots from the viral video.

The report read, “Mayur had travelled to Goa for work. But he wanted to wrap it up early and return to Surat to celebrate Navratri, a nine-day festival observed in honour of goddess Durga. He had booked train tickets but since the service was delayed, he cancelled the train ticket and booked a flight ticket instead. To his surprise, even the flight was delayed by five hours. But that could dampen Mayur and his fellow passengers’ spirits. They turned Goa airport into mela ground and performed Garba in unison.

Surat-bound flight was scheduled to depart from Goa at 5 pm on Sunday evening. Passengers were looking forward to going to Surat and participating in Navratri festivities, particularly Garba. But the flight was delayed due to a technical issue.

Mayur, one of the passengers, expressed his eagerness to reach Surat to a flight attendant. And that opened doors to celebration at the airport.

The flight attendant arranged for speakers, bringing everyone together for Garba. The video of people, including airline staff, dancing to folk songs, has gone viral.”

Another report published in “India TV” on September 30, 2025, that contained images similar to the screenshots from the viral video, read, “A long flight delay at Goa Airport turned into an unexpected celebration when a group of passengers from Surat broke into an impromptu Garba session at the terminal. What could have been a frustrating wait turned into a moment of joy, laughter and dance. The Surat-bound IndiGo flight, originally scheduled to depart at 5 pm, was delayed by nearly five hours. Instead of getting upset, passengers decided to lift everyone’s spirits by playing traditional Gujarati music and dancing Garba, a popular folk dance from Gujarat.

With the help of a flight attendant who arranged speakers, passengers gathered in a large circle and began dancing to the rhythmic beats. In a video that has now gone viral on social media, people can be seen clapping, twirling and moving in sync with the music. At one point, a man in the centre requested others to widen the circle so more people could join in…”

This makes it clear that the viral video is old and unrelated to the ongoing crisis in Indigo Airlines.

Conclusion

From our investigation, we can say that the claim is misleading. The viral video of passengers performing Garba Dance at the airport is old and unrelated to the current flight cancellations scenario of IndiGo Airlines. The video dates back to September 2025.
