This is an old image from Hyderabad and it has nothing to do with Cyclone Ditwah

The devastating Cyclone Ditwah has left a trail of destruction over 25 districts in Sri Lanka and killed 474 people; among the hardest-hit are those inhabiting low-lying coastal areas and the tea growing Central Highlands.
Against this backdrop, an image of a submerged bridge is going viral with a claim that it shows the devastation in Sri Lanka as Cyclone Ditwah wreaked havoc in the country, causing severe flooding.

Fact Check-
We started our investigation with a reverse image search on Google and the results led us to a similar video shared by Deccan Chronicle on twitter. It was uploaded on 27 September, 2025 with the caption, “#Hyderabad | Heavy rains raise Musi river levels. Authorities begin evacuation from low lying areas. #Telangana”
Moving forward, we also found a post by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) dated 27 September, 2025. It carried a picture from the same location as seen in the viral image.

Additionally, we found the same image in the stock image website Getty Images also under the caption, “A general view shows the overflowing Musi River following heavy monsoon rains in Hyderabad on September 27, 2025.”

As per reports, heavy rains caused the Musi River to swell in September 2025, leading to severe flooding in Hyderabad and prompting authorities to evacuate residents from low-lying areas
Conclusion-
Fact Crescendo found the claim made along with the viral image to be False.
The viral image is old and it is from Hyderabad, India. It has no link with the Cyclone Ditwah in Sri Lanka.
