No, PM Modi Did Not Announce Free Mobile Phones for Students After Bihar Election Win

False Political

A video is being widely shared on social media claiming that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced free mobile phones for all students to celebrate the election victory in Bihar.

The clip shows PM Modi saying that a free phone will be given for online studies. The video then asks viewers to share the reel with five people, write their name in the comments, and click on a link to order the phone.

After checking the video and the claim in detail, we found that the claim is false. The video has been edited and the government has made no such announcement.

FACT-CHECK

There is no official information from the Prime Minister’s Office, the Press Information Bureau or any government department about a free mobile scheme linked to the Bihar election result.

A scheme of this scale would be clearly announced through official channels, which is not the case here.

When we checked PM Modi’s original speech using reverse image search, we found the real video. It is from 24 February 2019, when the Prime Minister was in Gorakhpur launching the PM-KISAN scheme.

In that speech, there is no mention of giving mobile phones to students or anyone else. The viral clip uses the visuals from this old speech but the audio has been changed.

The video also directs viewers to a website where they can “order” the free phone. We checked the website, which is named Gudd Automobiles (sarkarigudd.in).

This site has no link to the government or any official scheme. The content on the website is inconsistent and unrelated. Pages that are supposed to explain the free mobile scheme actually contain write-ups about cars.

One page titled “Free Mobile Registration” carries a headline about comparing Tata Safari and Hyundai Alcazar. This clearly shows that the site is not a genuine platform for any government benefit.

Such websites are often created only to attract traffic or collect people’s names and phone numbers. Asking viewers to share the video, comment, or click on a link is a common method used in online scams to increase reach and mislead more people.

CONCLUSION

The claim that the government is giving free mobile phones to students after the Bihar election win is false. The video is edited and there is no such scheme. The website linked in the video is also fake and has no connection with any government department.

Do not trust such videos or links. Always verify any claim about free gifts or government schemes from official government websites or apps before sharing your information anywhere.
