
A video of stubble burning went viral on social media claiming it to be a recent incident in Punjab. Sharing the video, a user wrote, “This is the level of Stubble Burning going on in Punjab. But liberals will blame Diwali and Firecrackers for Air Pollution”.

However, as we investigated, we came to know that the claim is misleading. The viral video is old. Here’s the fact check.
Fact Check
We started our investigation by taking screenshots from the viral video and conducting a reverse image search. This led us to a tweet on the official X handle of ANI, where a similar video to the viral one was uploaded on November 1, 2024.

Although the viral video is in black and white, we found the similarities between the two videos. A comparison between the screenshots from the viral video and the video uploaded on the official X handle of ANI can be seen below.

Taking this clue, we conducted a relevant keyword search which led us to another similar video on a YouTube channel uploaded on 1 November 2024. According to the caption, it shows stubble burning in Dagru Village of Moga district in Punjab.

This makes it clear that the viral video is old.
Conclusion
From our investigation, we can say that the claim is misleading. The viral video of stubble burning in Punjab is not recent. It’s an old video from 2024.
