However, as we investigated, we came to know that the claim was false. The hotline number does not belong to the Indian Government. Here’s the fact check.
Fact Check
We started our investigation by conducting a relevant keyword search. This led us to a tweet on 20 September 2025 according to which the Nepal Government has launched the hotline number 9851145045 for citizens to report bribery, delays and bad behaviour in government services.

Taking this clue, we conducted a relevant keyword search in Nepali which led us to a report published in the Himalaya Times on 20 September 2025. The translation of the report reads, “Kathmandu. The Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers has urged service recipients to immediately file complaints if they encounter delays, bribery, or abuse while availing public services.
In a notice issued on Saturday, any ministry, office or agency providing public services has been requested to contact service recipients directly if they are found to be delaying work, bargaining, avoiding work, demanding bribes, causing unnecessary suffering or behaving in an insulting manner.
For this, the Prime Minister’s Office has made public the hotline number 9851145045.”

We found the same number on the website of the Government of Nepal (Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers).

The website reads, “This page is dedicated to receive complains and suggestions from common people, which can be a help for good governance and effective policy making.”
Other reports can be read here and here.
We didn’t find any hotline number in India that connects to the PMO directly for such complaints. However, we found a website “Department of Administration Reforms and Public Grievances“. Centralised Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System (CPGRAMS) is an online platform available to the citizens 24×7 to lodge their grievances to the public authorities on any subject related to service delivery. It is a single portal connected to all the Ministries/Departments of the Government of India and States.
Conclusion
This makes it clear that the claim is false. The hotline number 9851145045 doesn’t belong to the Indian Government. The hotline number has been launched by the Nepal Government for the citizens to report bribery, delays and bad behaviour in government services.
