Against this backdrop, a video showing members of the Muslim community emptying a sack filled with cash has recently gone viral on social media, with claims that it depicts donations made for flood relief in Punjab.

A reverse image search on Google with the key frames of the video revealed that a similar video was uploaded on the Facebook page of the Bangladesh-based news portal Somoyer Konthosor on 30 August, 2025. The video depicted the same visuals of individuals from the Muslim community emptying a sack of cash, as seen in the viral video. The details mentioned alongside the video states that it was from Bangladesh, not India. The caption clarified that it showed a donation collection at Pagla Masjid in Bangladesh.

Using these hints, we conducted further searches and found a news report published by Dhaka Tribune on 30 August, 2025. The report stated that the Pagla Mosque, located in Bangladesh’s Kishoreganj region, collected Tk 12.09 crore in donations after opening its 13 donation boxes, surpassing its previous record of Tk 9.17 crore collected in April. “The counting, conducted on the mosque’s second floor, took 13 hours and involved over 450 people, including mosque staff, madrasa students, bank officials, and volunteers,” the report noted.

We also found several Bangladeshi YouTube news channels that carried the same visuals stating that the video was from Pagla Masjid in Kishoreganj, Bangladesh, and showed the process of counting and dividing donations collected there.
Meanwhile we searched if there were any reports of the Muslim community in India assisting with flood relief in Punjab, and we found news reports published by Punjab Kesari and Zee News, which confirmed that Muslim communities in India have indeed provided aid. But this viral video is unrelated to them.
