A video circulating on social media appears to show Russian President Vladimir Putin standing up and paying respects when the Indian national anthem is played.

The caption states, “Russian President standing for Indian National Anthem. Just watch, he is also tapping the person sitting next to him to get up”.

Fact Check-

We started our investigation with keyword search on Google and found this video on YouTube uploaded on 1 February, 2012.

As per the video, Putin stopped while walking on stage as the Russian national anthem began. The video can be viewed below.

We can hear the Russian national anthem in the video. Upon further search, we found another video of it on YouTube. This video, uploaded on January 28, 2013, also shows Putin standing for the Russian national anthem.

It is clear that the viral video was edited and created by replacing the Russian national anthem with the Indian national anthem. You can see a comparison below.
