Did Rahul Gandhi Give Sole Credit To Mahatma Gandhi For Creating The Constitution? Here’s The Fact Check.

Recently a video of Rahul Gandhi went viral on social media where he allegedly gave sole credit to Mahatma Gandhi for creating the constitution. In the viral video, Rahul Gandhi says, “Who created the constitution?…Gandhiji gave his life to create the constitution”.

However, as we investigated, we came to know that the video has been clipped. Here’s the fact check.

Fact Check 

We started our investigation by taking screenshots from the viral video and conducting a reverse image search. This led us to a tweet on the official X handle of MP Varsha Eknath Gaikwad on 21 August 2025 that contained a longer version of the viral video. In the video, Rahul Gandhi says, “Samvidhaan kisne banaya?…Ambedkar ji ne apni poori zindagi di, zindagi di samvidhaan banaya. Gandhi Ji ne zindagi di samvidhaan banaya..Gandhi ji ne zindagi di samvidhaan banaya (Who created the constitution? Ambedkarji gave his whole life to create the constitution. Gandhiji gave his life to create the constitution)”. He further said, “Vote Chori samvidhan par hamla hai (Vote Theft is an attack on the constitution)”.

बाबा साहेब अंबेडकर जी ने अपना जीवन देकर संविधान बनाया।

वोट चोरी- संविधान पर हमला है।

देश के हर व्यक्ति को पता होना चाहिए कि जो संविधान आपकी रक्षा करता है, उसे नरेंद्र मोदी ख़त्म करने में लगे हैं।

According to the caption, the video is from “Voter Adhikar Yatra” in Munger, Bihar.

Taking this clue, we conducted a relevant keyword search which led us to the full-length video of the rally that was live-streamed on the official YouTube channel of Rahul Gandhi on 21 August 2025.

From the timestamp 19:58, the viral clip can be seen. In this video, Rahul Gandhi credited both BR Ambedkar and Mahatma Gandhi for creating the constitution.

A comparison between the viral video and the original video makes it clear that the viral video has been altered. The portion where Rahul Gandhi credited Ambedkar for creating the constitution, has been omitted in the viral video.

Conclusion 

From our investigation, we can say that the viral video has been altered. Rahul Gandhi didn’t give sole credit to Mahatma Gandhi for creating the constitution. Rahul Gandhi credited BR Ambedkar and Mahatma Gandhi both for creating the constitution in his original speech.
