
Recently, a mudslide video went viral on social media claiming it was from Uttarakhand.
However, as we investigated, we came to know that the claim was false. The viral video is not from Uttarakhand. Here’s the fact check.
Fact Check
We started our investigation by taking screenshots from the viral video and conducting a reverse image search. This led us to a Facebook page where the viral video was uploaded on 27 July 2025. According to the caption, the video is from Acupan, Virac, Itogon in the Philippines. The video credit was given to “Vandamme Layaban”
We found the same video on a Facebook page “Baguio Herald Express” on 20 July 2025. According to the caption, the video is from Itogon, Philippines and the video credit was given to “Van Damme”.
According to another Facebook post, the video was originally uploaded on the TikTok account “Vandamme Layaban”.
Since TikTok is banned in India, with the help of our Cambodian team, we found the TikTok account “Vandamme Layaban”, where the viral video was originally uploaded.
According to the TikTok account, the video is from Acupan, Virac, Itogon in the Philippines.
We found the Facebook account of the same user and contacted him. He confirmed that the video was recorded by him in Acupan on 20 July 2025.

This makes it clear that the viral video is from the Philippines.
Conclusion
From our investigation, we can say that the claim is false. The viral video is not a recent video from Uttarakhand. The video shows a mudslide in Acupan, Itogon in the Philippines in July 2025.
