In this context, several images and videos are surfed on social media with the claim that they show the Russian plane crash.
Let’s check the truth.
Fact Check-
We started our investigation by running a reverse image search on the image and the results led us to several media reports from 2010. As per a report by The Guardian published on 22 May, 2010 states that the Air India Express passenger plane flying from Dubai overshot the runway after landing at the Mangalore airport, killing 158 people. Only eight people survived.
This indicates that the image predates Russian plane crash and it has no link to it.
The report further states, Air India Express Flight 812 from Dubai overshot the tabletop runway at Mangalore airport, crashed off a cliff, and caught fire, killing 158 of 166 onboard, with eight survivors. Investigators found the captain was heavily asleep during the flight, which likely impaired his landing judgment.
The NDTV report states, Air India Express flight was arriving from Dubai with 160 passengers and six crew members on board, when it missed the touchdown area at the 8,000-feet ‘table top’ runway at Mangalore’s Bajpe airport leading to the crash. Only eight people reportedly survived the crash.
