Images of an alleged newlywed young man and an older woman is going viral on social media with the claim that 21-year-old Mohammad Irfan from Haryana married his own grandmother, Sultana Khatoon. The caption of the post states, “In a Shameful and Shocking incident, a 21-year-old Mohammad Irfan from Haryana married his own Grandmother, Sultana Khatoon, breaking all boundaries of familiar relationships”. Some other post states, “21-year-old Irfan weds 65-year-old maternal grandmother. After her husband’s passing, Sultana had been living alone, with Irfan staying by her side to offer care and support.
Fact Check-
We checked the local and national media in Haryana but did not find any information about such a marriage anywhere. Then we started the investigation with reverse image search on Google and the results led us to a video on the YouTube channel Desi Chhora 2.0 . This video was uploaded on 20 November, 2022. According to the video, a 21-year-old man named Rohit marries his 52-year-old professor Shanti.
This indicates that the the viral images are from this scripted video.
This video is scripted. There is a disclaimer at 0.23 seconds into the video. According to this disclaimer, this video is completely scripted and not real. Most of the videos on this channel are scripted like this.
The images are taken from a scripted video originally uploaded in November 2022 on YouTube channel of Desi Chhora 2.0.” These channels produce staged content purely for entertainment and engagement.
In December 2022, several fact-checking websites, debunked the false propaganda being spread around this video.
