Following Iran’s recent attack on Israel an image of a nighttime scene with several large fires and thick black smoke rising into the sky is going viral on social media with the claim it shows the aftermath of Iranian airstrikes on Tel Aviv.

Let’s check the truth.

Fact Check- 

We started our investigation by performing a reverse image search on Google and the results led us to an article published on the Odessa Journal on June 17 covering a recent Russian strike on Kyiv, Ukraine.

Upon further search we found the same image on several social media posts with the caption, “Several fires burn and smoke rises tonight across the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv, following a large-scale missile and drone attack by Russia.”

Moving forward we found reports with the same image with the description that A US citizen was killed in a massive missile attack in Kyiv.

As per Reuters report, Russia launched its deadliest assault on Kyiv this year on Tuesday, flattening part of an apartment building in a massive barrage that killed at least 18 people and injured 151 others across Ukraine.

Taking account of all these evidences, we can understand that this image is from the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war and it is unrelated to Iran-Israel Conflict.

Conclusion-

Fact Crescendo found the claim made along with the viral image to be Misleading. This image is from the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war and it is unrelated to Iran-Israel Conflict.
