Video of Delhi apartment fire shared as visuals of Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad

This video shows a massive fire that broke out in an apartment in Delhi’s Dwarka area. The incident occurred on June 10, 2025, at Shabd Apartment in Sector 13 of Dwarka.

The Air India passenger plane from Ahmedabad to London carrying 242 passengers and crew crashed just moments after taking off from the Ahmedabad airport on 12 June, 2025 afternoon. The aircraft lost altitude within minutes and crashed in the Meghani Nagar area near the airport, erupting in flames. Visuals from the crash site showed a thick plume of grey smoke rising from the ground. 

Against this backdrop, a building engulfed in flames with thick fire and smoke billowing out of the windows is going viral on social media with the claim “A London-bound Air India plane carrying 242 people has crashed shortly after take-off in Ahmedabad”. The overlaying text states Dwarka Sec13 Shabad Apartments on fire due to Ahmedabad plane crash.

Fact Check- 

We started our investigation by running a Google reverse image search with the key frames of the video and whose result us to a similar video uploaded on YouTube with the caption, “Fire Breaks Out in Sabad Apartment in Delhi’s, Dwarka Sector 13”. It was uploaded on 10 June 2025. This indicates that the viral video is not related to the Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad. The description part states, “A fire broke out in a flat on the 7th floor of Sabad Apartment, located in Dwarka Sector 13 near MRV School, on Tuesday”.

Using these hints, we conducted further searches and found several news reports regarding this incident. As per reports, “A massive fire broke out on the seventh floor of a building in Dwarka Sector-13, Delhi, triggering panic and chaos in the area”. A father and his two children killed while trying to escape.

Based on these evidences, we can understand that the video is unrelated to the Ahmedabad Air India plane crash.
