
Recently a video of a lion sniffing a man sleeping on a street and walking away without hurting him went viral on social media.

However, as we investigated, we came to know that the claim was false. The viral video is not real. It’s AI-generated. Here’s the fact check.

Watching the video carefully, we found some abnormalities in the video. The sleeping posture of the man in the video seemed abnormal. Even the text on the signboard in the video appears to be abnormal. This indicated that the video might be AI-generated.
We took some screenshots from the viral video and conducted a reverse image search. This led us to a tweet containing an image similar to the screenshots from the viral video. The tweet read, “This is AI and people are falling for it hook, line and sinker.”
We found the viral video in a tweet on 7 June 2025. The tweet read, “A man sleeping on the road narrowly escaped being attacked by a lioness.
[🎞️ theworldofbeasts-d4x, ai]”
The video credit was given to “The World Of Beasts” and “ai” was written next to it.
Taking this clue, we conducted a relevant keyword search which led us to the particular YouTube channel where we found the viral video.
According to the description, the video was edited and digitally created.
Then we checked that YouTube channel and found that it uploads videos of animals created digitally by AI. The About section of the channel says that it uploads videos created by AI.
Moreover, a few AI detector tools confirmed that the video is AI-generated.
This makes it clear that the viral video is AI-generated.
Conclusion
From our investigation, we can say that the claim is false. The video showing a lion sniffing a sleeping man on the streets and walking away without hurting him is not a real video. It’s AI-generated.
