Early Wednesday morning, India launched missile strikes on nine terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir.
The strikes – dubbed as Operation Sindoor – took place as a response to the Pahalgam terrorist attack on 22 April.
After the attack, social media was flooded with videos claiming to show the strike. Fact Crescendo received several requests to verify such clips through its WhatsApp Tipline (9049053770).
In many cases, we found that these videos were old and had nothing to do with the recent India-Pakistan conflict.
WHAT’S THE CLAIM?
The viral video shows a missile strike at night. People are sharing it as the clip of India’s attack on Pakistan.
FACT-CHECK
A quick reverse image search showed that this video was posted last year.
It also has the Doordarshan (DD) logo.
Using that clue, we found the same video shared by DD on 2 October 2024.
According to DD, the video shows Iranian missiles targeting the Nevatim airbase in Israel’s Negev Desert.
Iran had launched nearly 200 missiles at Israel on 1 October in response to an attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus.
CONCLUSION
It is clear that the viral video is not related to Operation Sindoor. It is an old video from Israel where Iran had attacked its airbase.(If you come across any news, videos, or images that seem too good (or bad) to be true, don’t hesitate to send them our way.
