This is a video from Malaysia and it dates back to November 2022. It is unrelated to India.

A video of a man mercilessly thrashing a woman has gone viral on social media with the claim that the incident was reported from India, where a man verbally and physically abused his wife by dragging her by the hair and kicking her in the face.

Fact Check- 

We started our investigation with a keyword and reverse image search on Google and the results led us to a report published by the Malaysia-based news portal Alhijrah. As per the report, the incident was reported from the Malaysian town of Batu 9 Cheras on 19 November, 2022.

Moving forward, we found multiple Malaysian media reports regarding this incident. According to the report, “In the 67-second video, a long-haired man was seen verbally and physically abusing a woman, believed to be his new wife, by dragging her by the hair and kicking her in the face”.

These reports identify the man in the video as Reduan Mahmood, who was charged under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt to Adrina Mohd Ariff by hitting and kicking her at their home in Batu 9, Cheras, on 14 November 2022. 

This indicates that the video is not recent and it has no connection to India. Taking account of these evidences, we can understand that the video is old, dating back to 2022, and originates from Malaysia is being shared with a false claim.
