Scripted Video Of A Barber Shop Going Viral As A Real Incident.

A video of a barber shop is going viral on social media. It shows a customer taking a massage from the barber, and after some time during the head massage, the customer gets paralyzed. Sharing the video on Facebook, users wrote, “Barber twists neck during head massage, leaves customer paralyzed…”

However, as we investigated, we came to know that the video was scripted. Here’s the fact check.

Fact Check 

We started our investigation by taking some screenshots from the viral video and conducting a reverse image search. This led us to an Instagram post where the viral video was uploaded on 11 November 2024. The caption of the video read, “This video is scripted Some one Shared it for entertainment purposes only…”

Taking this clue, using relevant keywords we found a longer version of the video on a Facebook profile uploaded on 12 November 2024. The caption of the Facebook post read, “Never allow barber to twist head during message. It could lead to paralysis or death. Watch till end & be careful”

At the end of this video, there was a disclaimer- “The reel life video footage published only for the purpose of educating the public by making them understand how the real world situations will be.and picturized to educate public. Characters in this video are entertainment and education purpose”.

Moving forward, we found the same video on a YouTube channel uploaded on 9 November 2024.

The description of the video read, “This May Happen..!😲😲 See What Happened In A Saloon When Barber Did Massage

#awareness #saloon #bodymassage #massage

Further, we found the same video on a Facebook page uploaded on 7 November 2024 with a disclaimer, “Thank you for watching! Please note that this page features scripted dramas, parodies, and awareness videos. These short films are created for entertainment and educational purposes only. All characters and situations depicted in the videos are fictional and intended to raise awareness, entertain, and educate.”

We found another video with a similar set-up, uploaded on this Facebook page on 10 November 2024. In this video, the barber shown is the same man who was there in the viral video as the second customer. A comparison between the two screenshots can be seen below.

This makes it clear that the viral video is not a real one. It’s a scripted video.

Conclusion 

From our investigation, we can say that the claim is misleading. The viral video of a barber twisting the customer’s head during a massage, making the customer paralyzed, is scripted. This is not a real incident.
