The child seen in the video is a Pakistan based singer named Ghulam-e-Murtaza, not the son of an Army Martyr.

A video of a child singing an emotional song is going viral on social media with a claim that, “He is an Army Officer’s son whose father died in an operation against militants. His mother died of shock on hearing the news. He is studying in a boarding Army Public School. Watch how he is fighting back tears while singing. What a confidence”.

Fact Check-

We started our investigation with a reverse and keyword search on Google and the results led us to a YouTube video by Pakistan based Dunya News uploaded on 19 December, 2015. Carrying a longer version of the viral video and it stated “Baba Meray Pyaray Baba – Tribute to APS Martyrs”.

Moving forward, we found that the same video was uploaded on YouTube channel named SibteinTV. It was also posted on 19 December 2015 and it was informed that the little boy Ghulam-e-Murtaza has sung this song for the victims of APS attack in 2015.

Using this hint, we searched for Ghulam Murtaza and found his Facebook profile Ghulam-e-Murtaza and while scanning through the profile we discovered a posts from September 2017 stating, “My Father is Alive He is a great Singer. And I am proud to be Son of Nadeem Abbas. My Father is not an Army officer but not less than an Army person for me.” And another post carrying a screengrab of such a claim from 2017, further stated that the video shows him “performing on stage with my father and Grandfather Master Shahzad Akhtar”.

Further, we came across a video shared on a YouTube channel named Nadeem Abbas Guitar Lessons which showed the same child sitting with two men. One of the men identified themselves as Nadeem Abbas and said that the child singing the song was actually his son named Ghulam-e-Murtaza.

So, taking account of all these evidences, we can understand that the video is not recent and the child is not an Army Martyr’s son.
