The Paris 2024 Olympic Games will showcase 3,800 hours of live sport and award 329 gold medals in 32 sports over 18 days of competition across the capital and in other parts of France. Amidst this, a video showing a track relay race is being shared to claim that Team India qualified for the Paris Olympics final. The caption states, “Indian men's 4x400m relay team qualifies for Paris Olympics finals as they finish 2nd in qualification round. What an inspiring and amazing run by the boys”.

We started our investigation with the help of a keyword and reverse image search on Google, whose results led us to multiple media reports confirming that the event occurred in August 2023. As per The Hindu report published on 27 August 2023, the Indian men’s 4x400m relay team set a new Asian record with a time of ‘2 minutes 59.05 seconds’. This achievement secured their first-ever qualification for the final round of the World Championships in Budapest on 26 August 2023. The team, comprising Muhammed Anas Yahiya, Amoj Jacob, Muhammed Ajmal Variyathodi, and Rajesh Ramesh, finished second behind the USA (2:58.47), advancing to the final.
Upon further search, we found Doordarshan Sports also posted the same video on Twitter on 27 August 2023 with the caption, "#TeamIndia makes history with a stunning 4x400m relay 2nd place finish." Phenomenal from India’s Anas, Amoj, Rajesh & Ajmal clocking a new Asian & National Record of 2:59.05 at World Championships”
According to the official Olympics website the athletic games will start on1 August. The first round of the men's 4x400m relay race is scheduled for Friday August 9 and the final is scheduled for Saturday August 10th both events will take place at the stade de France.
It should be noted that Indian men’s and women’s 4x400m teams secured Paris 2024 Olympic quotas at the World Athletics Relays in Nassau, Bahamas on 5 May, 2024.
