The image shows a fold in the secret service agent’s clothing, not a hole in Trump’s jacket, and there are no reports that Trump was shot in the chest.

Donald Trump, former US President and Republican candidate was shot during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania on 13 July. Trump’s ear suffered an injury during what is being described as an assassination attempt, and he was quickly removed by security personnel. Following this, several misinformation regarding the incident spread over social media. One of these assertions is that Trump was shot not just in the ear, but also in the chest.

Fact Check- 

By conducting reverse image search on Google we found the original image on the website of Associate Press. The viral image is a zoomed-out version of this image. Upon examining the high-resolution original image, we found that the mark resembling a hole in the viral image is actually a fold from the sleeve of a Secret Service agent who approached to provide protection and escort Trump from the scene, not a mark on Trump’s jacket.

Moreover, according to a reports, Trump recounted the incident, stating that he was only shot near his right ear and did not mention any bullet hole near the right side of his chest.

According to The New York Times, the latest updates on Trump assassination attempt investigation is F.B.I. officials informed Congress that the gunman who attempted to kill former President Trump had searched for images and appearances of Trump and Biden but showed no strong political views. Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle will face scrutiny in upcoming congressional hearings. The gunman was spotted acting strangely before the shooting, and local police fired at him during the incident. Investigators found two improvised bombs in his car. Multiple investigations are ongoing to understand the breach in security that led to the attack.

Conclusion– 

Fact Crescendo found that the image and claim that Trump was shot in the chest were Misleading. What appears to be a hole in Trump’s jacket is actually a crease in the sleeve of a member of the special investigation squad who was protecting him at the time. And there are no reports that Trump was shot in the chest.
