Food is not just considered as a source of nutrients but also an emotion. Sometimes it is a part of people’s religious sentiments as well. What if the producers of these foods start playing with our emotions? What should be our reactions after knowing that we are eating something that we shouldn’t?

A viral social media post claims that Vadilal Ice-cream adds beef flavor to its products, which is why their packages have the Halal trademark. The post further advises Hindus not to eat Vadilal.

However, Fact Crescendo found the claim to be false. Vadilal does not contain beef or any other animal flavors in its products. All the products of Vadilal are purely veg.

Fact Check-

We found a clarification in Vadilal’s website regarding this matter. According to Vadilal, for over a century, the company has been dedicated to providing the highest quality in the market. Their ice creams are crafted without any preservatives or artificial stabilizers, ensuring the customers get fresh and healthy desserts every time. Their products are made from 100% pure milk cream and are purely vegetarian and produced under pristine conditions.

Further, we found a post from Vadilal on LinkedIn. The post reads, “Vadilal is 100% vegetarian. We wish to clarify that the recent rumors about Vadilal ice cream packs with Halal certification being sold in India, are untrue. At Vadilal, we take pride in offering 100% vegetarian ice creams and other products. The packs featuring the Halal certification are designed specifically for export markets where such certification is required as per industry standards. Please rest assured that our commitment to quality and authenticity remains unwavering. Kindly do not fall prey to such rumors

Halal certification is often sought by companies to ensure their products are suitable for consumption by Muslim consumers. The presence of a Halal certificate mark on Vadilal ice cream packets simply assures consumers that the product complies with Halal standards and is permissible for Muslims to consume. It does not suggest the addition of beef flavor or any other non-vegetarian ingredient.

Conclusion:

Fact Crescendo found the claim to be false. Vadilal products are 100% vegetarian and have no added preservatives or artificial colors. The Halal certification mark on Vadilal products is a requirement for export of its products and for Muslim consumers.
