Following this, we reached out to Indigo Airlines for more information. Annu Sharma, Head, Indigo Customer Expert Division, responded as follows: “Based on your email, it appears that certain people are fraudulently trying to collect money from you on the basis of a fake job offer.

We regret that this happened and are deeply concerned about it. In order to assist you in this matter, we guide you to not make payments to anyone for getting a job with IndiGo.

We request all job applicants to submit their applications exclusively through our official website www.goindigo.in.

Applications received through any other channel will not be considered for our hiring process.

To visit the ‘Careers’ or ‘jobs’ section please click here. You can find detailed job listings and an online application form that you can complete and submit.

This process is essential to maintaining fairness, accuracy, and consistency in our recruitment process. “

Based on the search results, we reached to Kerala Police Cyber Cell for more info on job scams. An officer in the Cyber Cell told Fact Crescendo that, “Many educated people who use social media are now able to recognize fake job opportunities when such messages come across.' However, there is a significant increase in the number of people who fall for such scams. The number of fraud victims is not decreasing, even when cyber security agencies issue so many warnings to job seekers.

Digital technology is being effectively misused by the fraudsters to trick their victims. To accomplish this, they misuse the names of notable companies and brands. It's important to be cautious when responding to job opportunities sent out by brands and companies via SMS and mails.”

Many job scams target victims using the name of leading brands and government departments. Job scammers may offer you job opportunities from institutions such as the Indian Army, Railways, and Road Development Departments besides IT companies like Wipro, Infosys, Tech Mahindra, and TCS.

The person who receives the message must be aware of such scams to identify them in the first place. The principle aim of the scammers is to obtain money or personal information. Every job seeker should be aware that major brands will advertise jobs through their official websites. Major companies and government agencies advertise job openings in the mainstream media too. This advertisement will display the company's address, contact number, and official website information. Please keep in mind that big brands and government agencies do not offer jobs to candidates via SMS or direct email. They strictly maintain some criteria like exams and interviews to make accurate determinations when selecting candidates. Moreover these trusted brands and government agencies will not ask money for any recruitment process.

If you are contacted by an unknown agent about a job opportunity, request him an email that includes the company's logo, contact information, and official website related information. If it's feasible, report the fraud messages received by you, to the platform where the scammers claim to be associated with.

Citizens are protected and cyber fraudsters are prevented by the Information Technology Act, 2000 (IT Act) (archived link) and the Indian Penal Code 1860 (archived link). Reporting fraudsters to the police is a necessary action if you suspect that they have taken money or personal information. The cyber cell is available to receive complaints from victims of fraud. To file a complaint about cyber fraud, you can use the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal.

Conclusion

Direct messages and emails offering jobs at IndiGo Airlines are not trustworthy opportunities but scams. IndiGo Airlines does not advertise job openings through SMS, and no one has been authorized by the company to do so. Be cautious and avoid falling for these scam messages. If you have been a victim of fraud, seek assistance from the police as soon as possible.
