A video of SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav’s rally is going viral on social media. He is contesting from Kannauj Lok Sabha seat in 2024 general elections. The party had organized a rally for him in Kannauj.
In the video few things were seen thrown at Akhilesh Yadav during his rally. Social media users are claiming that even during his rally people were throwing shoes and slippers at him.
However, Fact Crescendo found the claim to be false. People were not throwing shoes at Akhilesh Yadav. They were throwing flower garlands.
Fact Check-
We started the investigation by searching for videos with relevant keywords. But we did not find any such media reports about shoes and slippers being thrown at Akhilesh during his recent rally in Kannauj. Then we watched the viral video carefully and found that people did not throw shoes and slippers but flower garlands.
We also found the same video posted by an Instagram user. In this video we could clearly see flower garlands thrown at Akhilesh Yadav.
Further, we found a video of the same incident on News 18 Uttar Pradesh’s YouTube channel on 27 April 2024. According to the information, a huge crowd gathered in this roadshow of Akhilesh Yadav. This roadshow was reported to be 5 km long. After watching the video, it is clear that garlands of flowers were thrown to welcome Akhilesh.

Fact Crescendo found the viral claim to be false. People did not throw shoes and slippers at Akhilesh Yadav during his rally. People were throwing flower garlands to welcome him in Kannauj.
