Is this an image of a Pakistani man who married his old aunt saying it is permissible in Islam? Know the truth. 

Currently, an image of a young man with an aged lady is going viral on social media. Users are claiming that both of them are from Pakistan and are relatives. The man is nephew of the lady and both of them got married recently. 

Along with the image, it was written that the young man had stated that if Prophet Mohammad could marry his cousins, then why can’t a cousin marry his aunt. 

Sharing the image, a user wrote, “This is beauty of Islam”

Fact Check- 

A Google Reverse Image Search led us to the same image published on Aaj Tak’s website in 2023. According to the report, a 35-year-old man from Pakistan married a 70–year-old Canadian lady. The man in an interview had said that he and his wife became friends on Facebook 10 years back. They got married in 2017. The lady flew from Canada to Pakistan to get married to the man.  

UrduPoint.com YouTube channel uploaded a video of an interview with the couple. 35-years-old Naeem Shahzad, a resident of Gujarat province in Pakistan met his life partner Mary, a 70-years-old lady from Canada on Facebook. In the video, Naeem can be heard saying that his friendship with Mary started in 2012 and they both fell in love with each other in 2015. They both got married in 2017. As he failed to get a visa to go to Canada, Mary relocated to Pakistan. Naeem said that he was already in a depressed state when he met Mary and she supported him a lot. He rebuked the claims of being a gold digger as the couple is living a very simple life. 

Conclusion: 

Fact Crescendo found the claim to be false. The married couple in the image is not Aunt and nephew but were Facebook friends. The lady is from Canada and the man is from Pakistan. They met on Facebook in 2012 and got married in 2017.
